Thomas E. Frank

December 25, 1948 — May 3, 2026

Mason City, Iowa

Thomas Edward Frank, 77, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away on May 3, 2026, at MercyOne Hospital in Mason City following complications of an extensive illness. A private family service will be held.

Tom was born on December 25, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, to John and Shirley Frank. He graduated from Mason City High School and went on to attend NIACC, earning a degree in drafting.

Tom built a long and dedicated career at the Northwestern Cement Plant—later known as Holcim—where he served as Safety Director. He was deeply committed to the well-being of others and took pride in creating safe environments, also contributing his time and expertise through the Iowa Safety Council.

Tom will be remembered for his ability to fix nearly anything and for the pride he took in his work as a masterful woodworker. He was also an avid music lover, especially of country music, and found great enjoyment in playing the guitar—often able to pick up and play almost any song by ear. Whether through his craftsmanship, his music, or his steady presence, Tom left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Robee (Lennan) Frank. Together, they built a life grounded in loyalty, resilience, and shared experiences. In retirement, Tom and Robee found great joy wintering in Mazatlán, Mexico for more than 20 years, where they formed many meaningful friendships and lasting connections.

He is also survived by his children, Todd Frank and Traci (Jamie) Galligan; and his grandchildren, Thomas (Anna) Frank, Brian (Felicia) Frank, Nick (Mia) Kelly, and Jared Galligan. Special sister-in-law Kandi (Mike) Dutcher.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Frank, and his sister, Karen.
