Tamarah "Tami" Suzanne McGinnis, 58, of Mason City, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Tami was born October 10, 1967 to Laurence "Larry" and Janice (Brockett) Conway. She attended Mason City Community School District, which she graduated from in 1986. Tami then attended North Iowa Area Community College to study Nursing, and received her degree in 1997. After graduating, Tami went on to work as an EMT in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 8 years, and worked as a nurse in the Minneapolis area for many years afterwards. After leaving her job as a nurse, Tami went on to get her CDL and spent many years as a truck driver for Swift Transportation, traveling all over the country. Most recently she was employed at 43 North Iowa, where she met many friends.
Tami was strong-willed and hardworking, and a friend to all. She was very adamant about making sure everyone's needs were met, even before her own. She enjoyed taking trips to many different states, and she was always up for an adventure, especially when it involved friends or family. In her free time she enjoyed patchwork quilting, taking photos of nature, and anything that included the company of her long time best friend, Deann Waitek.
Tami is survived by her mother, Janice Conway, of Mason City; her grandmother, Beatrice Brockett of Mason City; her brother, James (Tasha Kohls) Conway of Overland Park, Kansas; her beloved nieces, Mackenzy Conway of Witchita, Kansas, and Mollie Conway of Mason City; her best friend and sister by choice, Deann (Jay) Waitek of Rock Falls, and many other extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Laurence Conway, and grandfather, Rex Brockett.
Remember Me
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow,
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles.
I've only gone to rest for a while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am
But as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all and look on
with a smile. Understand in your hearts, I've
only gone to rest a while.
As long as I have the love of you, I can live my life
in the hearts of all of you.
