Steven M. Molstad

Steven M. Molstad, 73, of Manly, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Per Steven’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the VFW in Clear Lake. 

Steven Merle Molstad was born on July 22, 1950, in Mason City, to parents Dean M. and Ruth M. (Randall) Molstad. Steve attended school in Mason City and graduated from high school in Jackson, Minnesota. He later graduated from Jackson Vocational Technical Institute.

Steve was united in marriage to Janet K. Mitchell in 1970. To this union, two sons were born. Steve was drafted in the United States Army in 1970, and faithfully served his country for six years. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Steve then went on to own and operate Charlson Excavating Company in Clear Lake until his passing.

Steve enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, deer hunting, and restoring classic cars. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Steve was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Janet; sons, Robert S. (Sherri) Molstad and Erick R. (Donjia) Molstad; grandchildren, Blake, Danielle, Tabitha (Ryan) McNellis, Zakry, and Emmylia; and sisters, Bonnie (Rick) Martin and MaryJo (Ron) Groshens.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Diane; and brother, Ronald D. Molstad.
