Sharon was born on Saturday January 25, 1936, in Mason City, Iowa, the only daughter of Leo and Irene (Angelides) Tisor and lived a very full and loving life in Mason City. She graduated from Mason City High School and went on to earn her degree at what is now NIACC. Sharon was united in marriage to Richard Allen Peterson on June 30, 1957, at Wesley Methodist Church in Mason City, Iowa.

Sharon began her career as an elementary school teacher in Dayton, Iowa before teaching in Northwood, Iowa until the birth of her first daughter, Rebecca, in 1959. At that time, she became a stay-at-home mom and welcomed a second daughter, Laurel, in 1962. Once both girls were in school, Sharon returned to work in the school setting as a paraprofessional before working as a school librarian. She finished her working career at the North Central Regional Library.

After retirement, Sharon, and Richard “Petey”, enjoyed countless trips to different places around the United States and cruises, with friends, and time at their condo in Clear Lake. She also loved shopping trips to Minneapolis with family and floating in the pool in her backyard, for many summers. Sharon was always a very social person who loved planning activities and outings for her daughters and three granddaughters, including beach day picnics at Clear Lake, overnights at the Embassy Suites in Minneapolis, and trips to many musicals.

Sharon loved spending time with her family. She cherished all time with her daughters and was so very proud of their teaching careers. She and Petey were thrilled to be so actively involved with their three granddaughters, attending every single school program, sporting event, and activities throughout their lives, all the way up to enjoying the births of great-grandchildren and spending time with them.

In later years, Sharon enjoyed sitting on her porch with her dog Peanut, watching movies on Netflix, going out for Thursday breakfasts, Facetiming with family and friends, going on outings to Costco and time at Clear Lake watching her great grandchildren run around the splash pad at City Beach. Her family and friends meant the world to her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Larry (Becky) Tisor; and her stepfather, Leo Kearney.

She is survived by her beloved daughters Rebecca Peterson and Laurel Peterson Redmond; three grandchildren Kaitlin (Ben) Clough, Abby (Andy Camper) Redmond, and Libby (Christian) Gargano; five great grandchildren with one more on the way; and two brothers, Tom (Luci) Tisor, and Jon (Karen) Tisor. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sharon was the best wife, mother, “Grammi”, and “Great-Grammi”. She was so loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
