Ruth G Olson, 92, of Mason City, IA, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Norway Township Cemetery near Kanawha with Pastor Rich Taylor of Holmes Church, Clarion, IA officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St SE, Mason City, IA 50401.

Ruth Genevieve Olson (fondly known as Gen) was born in Wright County, IA to Elias and Bertha (Wicks) Olson on September 17, 1925. Gen was the youngest of six children to include Bernice Olson Severtson, Orville Olson, Ernest Olson, Marjorie Olson, and Eleanor Olson Eye; all of whom are deceased. She attended and graduated from Clarion High School. Gen worked as a Telephone Operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years retiring in 1982. While working for the company she and her sister, Eleanor, lived and worked in Ames, Des Moines, Denver, CO and Minneapolis. After retiring Gen continued to live in Minneapolis where she enjoyed being outside, taking walks around the various lakes and spending time with family and friends.

Gen is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Gen was preceded in death by her parents.
