Roman H. Grosklaus, 87, of 321 ? 4th St. N.E. #204, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Roman H. Grosklaus fund, or Hospice of North Iowa. Roman H. Grosklaus was born in Wabeka, Wisconsin to Frank and Ruby (Keitel) Grosklaus and later his step-father, Arthur Roever. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1936. He worked as a bartender until his enlistment in the Army. He was in the European Theatre with Engineering Company and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He returned to Wisconsin and began selling water heaters. His territory included Iowa where he met his wife, Kathleen Hea at her parent?s store, The Home Appliance in Mason City. They married in 1952, and had one daughter Kristine. Roman then worked for KGLO and eventually KIMT as a salesman until he purchased The Chart House restaurant in 1977. He retired in 1982 and moved to Green Valley, Arizona. Kathleen and Roman lived in Green Valley until 1994 when they then moved to Cathedral City, California. Roman and Kathleen retuned to Mason City in 2002. Roman is survived by a daughter, Kristine Leaman and husband Jay of Mason City; and two grandchildren, Tiffany Lauer and husband David of Omaha, NE, and Ted Leaman of Ames, IA. Roman was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Kathleen in 2002. Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. 641-423-0924.
