Rodney J. Kickbush, 86, of Mason City, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. Per Rod’s request, there will be no services.

Rod was born in Guttenberg, Iowa, to Kenneth and Hilma (Hagen) Kickbush. He was the brother of Bill, Doris, Janice, and Ginger. He graduated from Algona Public High School in 1956. He enlisted in the USAF in 1956 and served for 4½ years. During that time, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Following his military service, he returned to Iowa, eventually settling in Mason City. He worked at ConAgra Foods and retired in 2003. There he met his wife, Carolyn of 35 years.


He enjoyed his daily Bible studies. He liked to fish and hunt, play board games and do word search puzzles. He liked his sports and was a huge Hawkeye fan. He loved taking pictures of wildlife and found lots of things in his own backyard including deer, turkey, geese, eagles, and the list goes
on.


Rod will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn; and from a previous marriage, his daughters, Kathy (Mark) Miller and Angie (Lee) Griebel; four grandchildren, Andrew (Alyssa) Miller, Dr. Adam (Erin) Miller, Leah Hornsby, and Hailey (Kyle) Wilmeth; four greatgrandchildren, Alivia and Alaina Miller and Elaina and Everly Wilmeth; his brother, Bill (Joanie) Kickbush, and a sister, Doris Dorr; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Patton, Jan (Ron) Jennings, Kristi (Rev. Duane) Bull and Randy (Helen) DeBell;
and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Carolyn’s parents, Ed and Evelyn DeBell; two sisters, Janice Patton and Ginger Potter; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Potter and O’Larry Dorr.
