Robert R. Peterson

Robert R. Peterson, 89, of Mason City, IA died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at the IOOF Home. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2017, at the First Covenant Church, Hwy 122 at South Ohio, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the First Covenant Church.

Robert was born December 25, 1927, in Iowa City, IA, the adopted son of Harry S. and Thelma (Glandon) Peterson. After Harry Peterson's death, Robert was adopted by Roy R. Schweizer. He graduated from Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, IL in 1945. In May of 1946, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in November of 1947. On June 13, 1945, Bob was united in marriage to Marjorie M. Osborn in Bancroft, IA. Bob loved to sing. He especially loved singing in the River City Barbershop Chorus and church choir. He enjoyed old traditional hymns. Bob was a man of God and led a celebrate recovery support group. He was long time member of the First Covenant Church.

Bob is survived by his son: Reed Peterson Mason City; daughter: Jill Hein and husband Jeff of Phoenix, AZ; 2 grandchildren: Elijah Kovar and wife Erica of Minneapolis, MN and Sophia Kovar of Minneapolis; and 4 great grandchildren: Barrett, Adrianna, Angelina and Gianni.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2007; and his 2nd father: Roy Schweizer.
