Robert “Bob” J. Morrison, 69, of Mason City, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the University of Iowa Medical Center. A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Knights of Columbus/Columbia Club, 551 South Taft Avenue, Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the family of Robert Morrison.
Robert Jerry Morrison was born on September 3, 1956, in Mason City, to Walton Beal and Anne Arlene (Kober) Morrison. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1974. After graduation, Bob went on to earn his bachelor’s degrees from UNI in French and World History.
Bob explored careers as deputy sheriff and French teacher before spending 27 years at Graham Manufacturing. He enjoyed spending time with family, spoiling his grandkids, and traveling the world. He traveled to 4 continents and shared his love of Paris with both of his children for their high school graduations.
On May 5, 2012, Bob was united in marriage to Cheryl Palmer. The couple shared 13 wonderful years together, including a honeymoon in Paris and annual Caribbean cruises.
To his family and friends, Bob will forever be remembered for his encyclopedic knowledge of historic events and for being a prolific tweeter. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Nora Springs; his children, Matt (Nicole) Morrison of Grimes and granddaughter Neve, and Katie Morrison of North Liberty; his brother, Bill (Mandy) Morrison of Mason City; his nieces, “the Poopies”: Christine (Christian) Marsh of Blair, NE, Emily Morrison of North Liberty, and Leah Morrison (Ben Peters) of Johnston; his stepchildren, Jason (Diana) Palmer of Grinnell and their children Evan and Anne, Joshua Palmer of West Amana, and Julie Palmer of Nora Springs and her children Aaron and Allie.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Anne; and his mother-in-law, Donna Jacobsen.
