Robert D. Jones

Robert D. Jones, 80, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center – North Iowa. Per the families wishes there will be no services.

Robert was born on January 22, 1943, in Maywood, NE to parents Raleigh and Helen. Later they moved to North Platte, NE. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1961. In 1972 he graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE, earning Business Administration. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1974 he moved to Mason City, where he became a Certified Public Accountant. He worked at the McGladrey accounting firm, where he met his wife, Kathryn Folkmann. They were married on February 2, 1974. They had two sons.

In 1980 the family moved to Charles City, where he worked for Salsbury Laboratories. In 1989 his position was relocated to the Twin Cities. Ten years later he retired, and they moved back to Iowa. Robert enjoyed watching westerns and sports, especially Nebraska Cornhusker football. He also enjoyed reading and bowling.

Bob is survived by his sons Brian and Matthew of Mason City, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
