Reed Peterson

Reed Peterson 68, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Lime Creek Nature Center, 3501 Lime Creek Rd. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. For those attending the service the family encourages those to bring a chair as the service will be outside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pause 4 Paws.

Reed was born on June 29, 1956, in Mason City to Robert and Marjorie Peterson. He grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School and the University of Northern Iowa. He worked as a woodworker for TruStile and was known for his precision and craftsmanship.

Reed was the proud father of Sophia and Elijah, whom he loved deeply. He was continuously entertained by his two kitties, Blanca and Sargon, who have since found a loving home with his grandchildren, Barrett, Adrianna, Angelina, and Gianni.

A passionate musician, avid mountain biker, and skilled marksman, Reed took special pride in customizing his trombone, bikes, and revolvers by hand, always tweaking them to achieve the perfect style, feel, and function, in a way only he could define.

Reed was cherished for his quiet creativity, his zany wit, and his unwavering attention to detail. He brought a thoughtful presence to every space he was in and lived life with curiosity and care.

He is survived by his children, Sophia and Elijah, along with Elijah's wife, Erica; his grandchildren, Barrett, Adrianna, Angelina, and Gianni; and his sister, Jill with her husband, Jeff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Marj.
