Mason City

Phillip R. Osegera, 87, of Mason City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1 p.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania with Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Phillip Osegera.

Phillip Ray Osegera was born on February 3, 1936, to parents Jose Ignacio and Mary Carmen Oseguera in Mason City. Phil graduated from Mason City High School. On July 6, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sandra Reicherts at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mason City. They were together for 55 years, and they were blessed with five children. Phil enlisted in the United States Army in 1958, and he bravely served his country in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

Phil was employed as a molder at various places throughout his life, most notably, Minnesota Rubber for 18 years, Armour for 17 years, and a soy bean plant for 10 years. Phil retired in 1999.

In his free time, Phil enjoyed fishing with his sons, car rides, visiting Macintosh State Park, and most importantly, time spent with family. Phil loved his life and everybody in it. He loved his Faith and would pray with anyone he would meet. He will be forever remembered by his loving smile, his kind and giving heart, his work ethic, and his love for his family. Phillip was an amazing father, grandfather, brother and friend and he was a huge blessing to this world. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him and loved him, and he will be cherished forever.

Phil is survived by his children, Brenda (Todd) Bodenhamer, Holly Osegera, David Osegera, Heidi Osegera, and Chad (Nicholle) Osegera; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two brothers.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy in 2018; parents, and a sister.
