They had two great grandchildren, Henry and Charlotte Bahnsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Violet Clausen, sister Delores(Charles) Younke, and brother William (Phyllis) Clausen.
Mike spent his younger years growing up in Mason City. After the death of his mother at an early age, he lived with his sister and her family in Arizona. He talked about how grateful he was that they took him in and raised him like he was one of their own. He had many great memories living out West and created tight bonds with his nieces and nephew. He returned to Mason City to live with his brother and their family while he attended Mason City High School and graduated in 1963.
After Highschool, he married Linda on August 6, 1965. They started their family in a small home on the South end of Mason City. Mike worked at the Iowa DOT for a brief period and left there to do construction for several different contractors. He then went to FedExExpress and worked there for 23 years before retiring.
Mike and Linda enjoyed living in the South part of Mason City and bought a bigger home that they remodeled to accommodate their growing family. Mike adored Linda and always talked about how much their relationship meant to him. The South end was a tight knit community with several family members and close friends. Mike's dad Charles (Papa) spent many hours with the family where they enjoyed a tight and everlasting bond.
Mike grew up hunting and fishing and carried that on throughout his life. He spent 33 years with the Clear Lake Fishing Club and was a proud member of the Heartland Chapter 10 Muskies Inc. This past summer he placed third in The Walleye Classic with his son Josh at Clear Lake. Mike spent time playing softball with family and friends and enjoyed helping coach his daughter Michaelle with softball. Mike especially loved attending his grandkids' sporting events and dance recitals with Linda.
In Mikes later years he talked about how much he missed his mom and other familymembers. His spiritual life and faith were increasing. He enjoyed bible study with his son Brent and accepted Christ a couple of years back. Mike was a deep thinker and loved spending time outdoors drinking coffee and enjoying nature.
There was never a doubt how much he loved his wife, family, and friends. He was a loving, generous, wonderful man to many, and will be missed.
