Melvin E. Lambert, 89, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Westview Care Center in Britt.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City with Chaplain Jani Dahlin officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Melvin Edward Lambert, the son of Hirman and Bernice (Church) Lambert, was born September 5, 1935, in Chickasaw County, Iowa. He graduated from Ionia High School in 1957 and worked at White Farm in Charles City for a few years before enlisting in the U.S. Army. While stationed at Lake Erie in Ohio, he met his future wife, Beverly Noble. They were married on November 28, 1958, at a Presbyterian Church in Green, Ohio. Upon his honorable discharge, the couple moved to Rockford where Melvin was employed at Trettin Hatchery and later White Farm in Charles City. In 1995, he began working at Eaton Corporation in Belmond until his retirement. He enjoyed his family, fishing, woodworking, dancing to polka music and playing board games and cards with family and friends.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly of Rockford; four children, Michael (Julianne) Lambert of Mason City, Terry (Bill) Paulus of Garner, Alan Lambert of Mason City and Neal (Vicky) Lambert of Nora Springs; 12 grandchildren, Austin (Elizabeth) Lambert, Joe (Megan) Lambert, Ashley Lambert, Haley Lambert, Steve Paulus, Chelsey Paulus, Prescott Lambert, Quinn Lambert, Evan (Holly) Lambert, Jesse Lambert, Cole Sonius and Dakota Lambert; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and four brothers.
