Marge M. Milbrath

Marge M. Milbrath, 84, of Mason City, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Per Marge’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time. Marge will be laid to rest at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family of Marge Milbrath.

Marge Mae (Bates) Milbrath was born on January 27, 1942, in Dows, Iowa, to parents, Leonard Bates and Geraldine Huey Bates. After Geraldine’s passing in 1950, Marge was raised by her stepmother, Georgia Bates. Marge graduated from Mason City High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation, Marge was united in marriage to David Milbrath, and the couple were blessed with three children.

Marge was employed at Metalcraft for over 30 years, a job she truly enjoyed. After retiring, she enjoyed catching up with her coworkers, then friends, at Village Court once a month.

In her free time, Marge enjoyed reading, crosswords, and bird watching. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite season was autumn; and she enjoyed all the activities to be done during that time of year.

Marge will forever be remembered for her friendly, outgoing, and social spirit. She could walk into any room and find someone to have a conversation with! Her family will cherish the memories of sitting around her dining room table, enjoying some of her incredible meals. Marge was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her.

Marge is survived by her husband, David Milbrath, children, Robert (Connie) Milbrath and Mary (Darren) Buckley; three grandchildren, Brad Buckley, Brock Milbrath, and Jadda (Brett) Bueker; two great grandchildren, Teddi Bueker and Dexter Buckley; brother, Dean (Iris) Baird; and sister, Betty Middleton.

Marge was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Duncan; her granddaughters, Kandace Duncan and Amber Duncan; her parents, Leonard and Georgia Bates; mother, Geraldine Bates; brother, Bob Baird, and sister, Delma Walsh.
