Marcia Kay Menke

Marcia Kay Menke, age 79, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Country Meadow Place. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the family of Marcia Menke.

Marcia was born on April 8, 1946, in Cedar Falls to parents Robert and Marian (Goodenow) Owen. She grew up in Humeston, Iowa before moving to Bettendorf, where she graduated from high school in 1964. Following graduation, she attended the University of Northern Iowa.

On July 29, 1966, Marcia married James Robert Dlouhy. They made their home in Mason City, IA, welcoming their only child, James Daniel Dlouhy.

Marcia began her career in the laboratory and eventually transitioned into the IT department of Mercy Hospital Mason City, retiring with over 35 years of service. There she met her second husband, Junior "Bud" Menke. They married on August 26, 1978, and Marcia welcomed his children Greg, Liz, and Jodie into her life.

Marcia was involved with the ladies' groups at St. James church, the local Mended Hearts Chapter, and in post-retirement volunteer work at Mercy's Diabetic Center. She was an avid quilter, active in various guilds throughout North Iowa. Marcia enjoyed giving her quilts to friends and family.

Marcia is survived by her son, James (Denise) Dlouhy of Salisbury, North Carolina; her brother, Ronald (Marilyn) Owen of Bettendorf, Iowa; stepchildren Greg (Laura) Menke, Lizabeth (Tom) Peterson, and Jodie Kush; and sister-in-law Audrey (Doug) Owen. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alex Dlouhy (Dylan), and Meghan (Mitch) Turbenson; great-grandchildren Miles, Max, and Maren Turbenson; along with many nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Menke; her parents Robert and Marian Owen; her brother Douglas Owen.
