Marcia "Marcy" Ann (Moen) Colvin was born on June 13, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Richard A Moen and Patricia A (Collins) Moen. She was the oldest of three daughters. Marcy spent her youth in Algona, Iowa, then the family moved and settled in Owatonna, MN, when she was a sophomore in high school. Marcy graduated from Owatonna High School in 1970, and in that same year was crowned Miss Owatonna and participated in the Miss Minnesota pageant.
Marcy attended the University of Minnesota, participated in drama performances and learned belly dancing. In 1974, she married her high school classmate John C Colvin, and together they shared 52 wonderful years. They moved to Rockford, IL, where daughter Kelly Ann was born in 1978 and Charles Richard followed in 1982. Many happy memories were made raising their young children with their close friends in Rockford on Lanterne Dr. In 1987, the family moved to Mason City, Iowa due to a job transfer, in which they were thrilled to move closer to their families in Owatonna.
Marcy spent many years volunteering for Mason City Schools and Trinity Lutheran Church, until she fulfilled a call to serve as Youth Director at Trinity starting in 1998 until her retirement in 2020. Marcy has impacted the lives of many hundreds of youth in the greater Mason City area over the years - spiritually and emotionally guiding them during their formative years as young teenagers. She absolutely loved being a youth director, creating and maintaining relationships with her friends near and far, and being the most amazing wife, mom, grandma, sister and aunt anyone could ask for.
Marcy is survived by her husband John, daughter Kelly and son-in-law Brian (Smith), son Charlie, and grandchildren, Anders, Signe, Eleanora, Elivia and Elliot, as well as her sisters Diane (Bob) Jungbluth and Melinda (Paul) Batz and their families.
