Lori Lynn Schade was born on September 5, 1968, in Mason City to parents Harold and Phyllis Edgar. Lori graduated from Nora Springs Rock Falls High School in 1987. In June of 1987, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Schade. Together, the couple started their life together in Texas while Jerry was serving at Fort Hood. While in Texas, they welcomed their first child. All together the couple were blessed with three children.
In 1989, they moved back to Iowa where Jerry began working for the Manly Police Department, and Lori began working at the convenience store. In 1994, the family moved to Garner, and she continued her time in the convenience industry. On a part-time basis she also served as a dispatcher with the Garner and Clear Lake Police Departments. Eventually, she became a full-time dispatcher with the Clear Lake Police Department, where she remained until 2001. In November of 2001, Lori’s parents opened LD’s Filling Station. Lori made a career change and began working for the family business. Lori was the 'L' in "LD’s". Lori continued working in the restaurant, and in 2014 Lori and Jerry purchased the business. Miss Lori was a very hard-working and motivated person who strived to make things perfect within the restaurant.
Lori was a selfless person who was loved by everyone. She truly loved being outdoors, whether it was watching her birds, camping, or sitting on the deck with a cold Busch Lite. She enjoyed being on the motorcycle and just riding—it didn't matter when or where. She loved traveling to Sturgis and being with her people; together, they referred to themselves as "Team Beaver."
Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, for which she garnered the name "Mrs. Claus." She embodied the spirit of Christmas, decorating the house and bringing all of her family together. Lori fulfilled a long-held dream of her father's and a dream of her own, by attending a Barrett-Jackson classic car and memorabilia auction—a memory she and her family cherished dearly.
Lori is survived by her husband, Jerry Schade; children, Brandyn (Jamie Duda) Schade, Lindsey (Colbie Johnson) Schade, Shelbey (Blaine Holzerland) Schade; sister, Danielle (Matt) Pace; grandchildren RaeLynn, Paramour, Jordy, Jada; bonus grandchildren, Charlee, Owen and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Phyllis Edgar; maternal and paternal grandparents.
