Linda M. Smith

Linda M. Smith, 74, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.

Linda was born on June 26, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Laverne and Ruth (Sterweld) Smith. She attended Mason City schools and spent her working years in a variety of manufacturing jobs and grocery stores. Linda enjoyed crafting, painting, doing puzzles, spending time outdoors, and especially cherished time with her grandchildren. She was known to crack many jokes and loved to bring laughter to those around her. 

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Greg) Wendel; niece, Brenda (Bruce) Jensen; nephew, Jerry Smith Jr.; good friend and cousin, Janice (Larry) Kunkel; grandchildren, Alyssa (Ben) Sterbenz, Morgan (Aaron) Hickman, and Tyler Wendel; along with great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Stromley; her son, Gary Smith; her parents, Laverne and Ruth (Sterweld) Smith; and her brothers, Jerry (Erma) Smith and Leroy Smith.
