Linda "Micki" Ketchum AKA Mickaela Ketchum, 64, of Westminster, Colorado passed away on May 17th at her home.
Mickaela (Linda) Ketchum was born on September 17th, 1960 in Los Angeles, California to Carole Ann Brown (Brock) and Ferrell Carter. She was adopted by Norma and Oscar Ketchum and brought home to Mason City, Iowa where she was raised. She was a cheerleader for the Mason City Mohawks, and for Central High School. She was briefly married to David Harrington in 1979, and married the love of her life Roger Mikkelsen on July 9th, 1983 in Yelleville, Arkansas. They were married for 13 years. Mickaela attended La James College for Cosmetology, NIACC, PIMA Medical School, and Browns TKD Institute where she received a degree in Broadcast & Communications. She worked for several radio stations in North Iowa and lower Minnesota including Z-103, KRIT, KZEV, KLKK, and 93.9 KIA where she was best known as "Shelbie Rae".
Mickaela began pursuing her dreams in music and became a Nashville Recording Artist, Singer-Songwriter, and performer. She performed all over the U.S. and Canada at notable venues to include the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, performing on national television, performing with major artists to include Ron Ellison of the Delfonics ("Didn't I Blow Your Mind"), and recording with Nashville legends to include Jack Lynch, who worked with artists such as Allison Krauss. Mickaela went on to become a talent buyer, talent scout, and owned her own entertainment companies Golden Voices Entertainment, and One Voice Entertainment. She was an explorer. She ventured all across the country, and lived in various places to include Nashville, Denver, Los Angeles, and Detroit to name a few. Music was her biggest passion, and was present in all aspects of her life. " She loved Jesus, she was a God fearing woman and she never missed a chance to share with you. She wanted to help and save everyone.
Mickaela "Micki" (Linda) was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother (MéMé), and Great-Grandmother. She is survived by her siblings Lori Ketchum, Lisa Ketchum, Jerrie Ketchum of Mason City, and Shelli Silva of Los Angeles (and many biological siblings), her three children Joshua Mikkelsen, Alyssa Ruffin (Charles Ruffin), Dustin Mikkelsen, her grandchildren Aurelia Ruffin, Aviyana Ruffin, Aspen Ruffin, Aeriana Haggin, Bradyn Mikkelsen, Avarie Thornton, Lexy Schwanz, Jaxson Jaques, (Tyler, Zoey, Isabella & Jacob) and her great grandchildren Eliana Jensen, Greyson Thornton, Phoenix Thornton, and Adeline Thornton.
She is preceded in death by her parents Norma & Oscar Ketchum (Carole Brock & Ferrell Carter), her brother Johnnie Ketchum, and her grandson Caleb Mikkelsen.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday, June 9th, 2025 at Major Erickson Funeral Home at 11:00am, she will be laid to rest following services at Memorial Cemetery Park.
Reception will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the VFW in Clear Lake. Food provided by Alyssa Ruffin & Lisa Ketchum. Followed by Karaoke at Rumorz in Clear Lake from 4pm-7pm.
