Lillian Emma Esther Wetterling

March 21, 1913 — February 26, 2008

Lillian E. Wetterling, 94, of Mason City, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Health Center.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 29, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating.  Interment will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Garner, IA.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and also one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Lillian E. Wetterling memorial fund or the Jacob Wetterling Foundation. Lillian was born March 21, 1913 in Garner, the daughter of Emil and Frieda (Lade) Boehnke.  She attended the St. Johns Parochial School in Garner until the 10th grade.She was married to Erwin H. Erv Wetterling on March 16, 1932 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Garner.  Together they farmed in the Miller, IA area for many years until moving to Mason City in 1959.  She then worked as a cool for Newman Schools for several years and also the Oakville Compnay.  She was an avid cook and a very active Hawkeye Basketball fan, as well as other college teams, she was an all around sports enthusiast.  Family was very important to her and she enjoyed attending her families sporting events and musical performances.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, LWML and the Naomi Circle and the birthday club. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Judy Hagen of Albert Lea, MN, Joan Wetterling of Eagan, MN, Anna Wetterling of St. Paul, MN; son, Dr. Jerry Wetterling and wife Patty of St. Joseph, MN; grandchildren, Brenda Moles and husband Michael of Augusta, GA, Amy Teigen and husband Chris of Champlin, MN, Trevor Wetterling of Denver, CO, Jacob Wetterling missing since 1989; and Carmen Hughes and husband Kristian of St. Paul, MN; great-granddaughters, Kristen Moles, Lili and Izzi Teigen and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin Erv Wetterling in 1997; daughter, Janet Pederson; son-in-law, Richard Hagen; great-granddaughter, Nissa Moles; and brother, Raymond Boehnke and sister, Norma Boehnke.
