John "Jack" Ringis

December 8, 1952 — July 18, 2019

John “Jack” Ringis, 66, of Mason City, died suddenly on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at his home.

A celebration of life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2019, at The All Vets Center, 1603 S Monroe Ave.

Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family of John Ringis or the Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 S Birch Drive.

John Joseph Ringis III was born December 8, 1952 in Mason City, Iowa. The son of John Joseph “Smitty” Ringis II and Hulda (O’Green) Ringis. Jack attended Mason City Schools, graduating from Mason City High School and attending NIACC. He enlisted in the Army and received an honorable discharge.

Jack loved to fish and enjoyed many family fish fry. He had a great love for dogs, especially Velnuk. He was an avid NASCAR fan and would never miss a race on TV. He also was a Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed spending time with his special friends.

His work years included driving cars for Mason City Auto Auction, doing construction work, driving bus for Manly Head Start, and driving truck for Wildhorse Trading.

He is survived by sister Sandra Solsaa, sister Cheri Ringis, niece Jean (Brad) Heagel, niece Helen Holtan & family, niece Carla (Terry) Dempsey & family, and nephew Christopher Gibbs.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Carl & wife June Gibbs II, nephews Carl Gibbs III, Paul Holtan, Andrew Holtan, and brother-in-law Bert Solsaa.
