Jeffrey Allen Zimmer, 71, of Mason City, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his residence.
Jeff was born on April 24th, 1954 and grew up on a farm north of Floyd, IA where he spent many hours on his dirt bike. He graduated from Charles City IA High School in 1973. In 1975 he married, and settled in Charles City where he started a family. He worked in the foundry as a fork lift operator at the local tractor manufacturing plant. Jeff was always an avid audiophile, video gamer and ping pong player, but here is where his love of tennis started.
By 1983 the family moved to Mason City, IA where he began his career in automotive sales. When he wasn't working he was playing tennis at West Park or East Park in the city.
1989 he moved his family to Tampa,FL and continued his automotive sales, winning several awards as a Salesperson and Sales Manager. Now he could play tennis year round.
In retirement he relocated back to Mason City, IA where he led a quiet, private life, and passed away of natural causes on July 8th 2025 at the age of 71.
Jeff is survived by his mother Darlyce Zimmer of St. Ansgar; sister, Susan Lekwa (husband Steve) of Nevada, IA; sister, Julie Zimmer (husband Gary Heimann) of Hudson, WI; and brother, Kris Zimmer of Des Moines, IA. Also surviving him are his three children; son, Chester Zimmer of Dallas, TX; son, Oliver Zimmer and daughter, Maisy Zimmer, both of Charleston, SC.
No formal services will be held, instead a memorial park bench for him is being installed near the tennis courts at West Park, Mason City, IA. "Game, set, match."
