Janice C. Kothenbeutel

December 24, 1946 — May 1, 2018

Janice C. Kothenbeutel, 71, died Tuesday May 1st, 2018 at the IOOF in Mason City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5pm – 7pm on Friday May 4th, 2018 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City at a later date.

Janice Claudine Kothenbeutel was born in Mason City, Iowa on December 24, 1946 to Ole and Myrtle (Stromley) Banken. She attended Mason City High School where she graduated in 1965. She later went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Hamilton College of Business in Mason City. Jan worked at several companies over the years and finally retired from Larson Manufacturing in Clear Lake, IA in 2011.

Jan enjoyed listening to her country music album collection especially Conway Twitty. She was well known at the IOOF home for her random singing performances. Jan took pleasure in watching her VHS collection of musicals and even got to enjoy live performances at NIACC with her family. She and her sisters and cousins would also take trips to casinos to see shows and do some gambling. Jan had a fondness of animals especially her various birds, and beloved pot-bellied pigs Harley and Honda, which led to her vast collection of porcelain pigs. What she loved the most was her numerous slumber parties with her grandsons Devon and Taylor.

Jan is survived by her son Kyle Kothenbeutel of Rockwell, daughter Debra Bannister of Clear Lake, brother Marvin (Kathy) Banken of Mason City, sister Linda (Gerald) Coonrod of Northwood, brother Dennis (Christie) Banken of Forest City. Grandchildren Ryen Preteronti, Amber and Kory Kothenbeutel, Devon, Taylor, and Avery Kothenbeutel, Miranda and Paige Bannister. GreatGrandchildren Brianna Preteroti. Also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents Ole & Myrtle Banken, daughter Polly Kothenbeutel, and infant sister Carol Banken.

Jan will always be remembered for her love of her grandchildren and quick wit and sarcasm.
