James D. Peshak

James “Jim” Peshak, 35, of Mason City, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his home. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:30 am, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 440 N Illinois Ave., with Pastor Nick Daugherty and Rev. Melanie Sickels officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Sunday at the church. Inurnment will be held in the Plymouth Bohemian Cemetery. Memorials may be directed towards the family of Jim Peshak.

James was born October 1, 1989, to loving parents Doug and Mary (Webster) Peshak. He graduated from Central Springs High School in 2008. He attended NIACC where he got a certificate as a tool and die maker and then later received his welding certificate. He worked at IMT in Garner for a couple of years. He then went back to get his welding certificate and then went on to work for Brock Industries in Sheffield.

Jim had many different hobbies. Growing up he followed his dad around and watched what he did. You could often find Jim in his dad’s shop working right alongside him. He would later have his own shop he would tinker in and have projects of his own. He had a love for welding ever since he was a little kid. He had recently been fixing up his house along with his dad and loved all the “vintage” stuff in the house.

Jim loved the outdoors. He had a love for trapping and would go to many different spots and catch just about anything he could. He loved to fish; he would go with his buddies and his parents and fish just about anywhere. He always made sure to put the worm on the hook and take the fish off for his mom. He and his best friend, Kyle, went on many different fishing trips throughout the years.

Jim had a love for cooking as well; he would sit and watch his mom cook growing up and learned a lot from her. He loved to can the vegetables from his garden and would spend a lot of time in the kitchen doing so. He loved using his smoker and smoking various kinds of meat.

Most of all Jim loved his family. Jim’s family meant the most to him. He made sure to tell everybody how much he loved them. When he was little, he would ride his bike down to his grandparents’ house every Saturday morning to have cookies while they had their morning coffee. His family was most important to him. He was a very kind hearted person, until it came to talking about politics, which he was very opinionated on. 

Jim is survived by his parents, Doug and Mary Peshak; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and his best friend Kyle Harrington and his fiancé Jayden Minert.

Jim is preceded in death by his grandparents June (Harold) Stephens and Lester and Dotta Peshak, and uncle Tracy Carpenter.
