Gerald Daniel Squier, 72, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Overland Park, KS. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at The Bridge Church, 913 S Main St, Charles City, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Interment will be held in the Rockford Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, IA. Memorials can be directed to the family of Gerald Squier.
Gerald Daniel Squier was born July 12,1953, the son of Maurice and Ione (Blanchard) Squier. He graduated from the Osage School System and North Iowa Community College with his associate degree in criminal justice. He joined the Air Force in 1971 and served until 1976 in Ellsworth Air Force base, South Dakota and Ramstein Airbase in Germany. Gerald reached the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Military police.
He was united in marriage to Christi (Zieman) Squier on May 31, 1975. They made their home in Germany for one year. Returning to the states they made their home in the Osage/St. Angar area. Gerald drove a livestock tractor-trailer for Ron Canny. Later he bought a semi, started G&L trucking and drove for DART Transit Company for 10 years. Gerald and Christi moved to New Port Richey, FL in 1986. Gerald was a volunteer firefighter on the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department for over 10 years as a lieutenant. He would share his time between Florida and Overland Park, Kansas. As his health became more of an issue he spent most of his time in Overland Park, Kansas until his passing.
Gerald is survived by one sister, Joyce LaRue of Doniphan, MO., one brother James (Jim) Squier wife Kathy of St Ansgar, IA, numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, wife Christi, one brother Charles (Chuck) and one sister Jacqualyn.
