Gerald Lee Lorentzen, 75 of Rockwell passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Mercy One Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa after a tough battle with Lung Cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City with Rev. Wendy Johannesen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.
Gerald was born on August 6, 1949, the son of Leroy Tilden and Flossie G (Birch) Lorentzen in Mason City, Iowa. He was the youngest of three children. Gerald attended school in Nora Springs. Gerald was united in marriage to Nancy Levenhagen on March 25, 1967. They had two children, Michael and Mathew. Gerald and Nancy moved to Rockford, Illinois where he worked painting cars for Chrysler. Gerald moved his family to Garner, Iowa where he worked as a machinist. Gerald spent most of his life in Rockwell, Iowa. Gerald worked at various places as a tool and die maker and Machinist.
Gerald loved to go hunting, building and repairing guns in his spare time. Gerald liked working on cars, going on long summer rides in his convertible, and hitting a gambling casino on the way.
Gerald loved his family so very much. Those left to cherish his memory is his son Mike and (Karrie) Lorentzen of Mason City, grandchildren, Jordan (Alecia) Lorentzen of Mason City, Devin (Dalcy) Lorentzen of Manly, Joshua (Danielle) Lorentzen of Mason City, and Ashley Murrel and husband Richie of Mason City. Brother-in-law Bill Levenhagen (Nancy) of Rockwell, sister-in-law, Barb Jones of Mason City; sister-in-law, Deb Behr (Lee) of Rockwell; brother, Bob (Carol) Lorentzen of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, son Mathew, brother Bill, brother-in laws, Gary Levenhagen and Fred Jones, parents, Leroy and Flossie Lorentzen, in-laws, John and Margret Levenhagen, and very special friend, Connie Lunning.
