George Grekoff

George Grekoff, 93, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 419 North Delaware, with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service time. Interment will take place in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the George Grekoff memorial fund. George Grekoff was born March 17, 1924 in Medina, North Dakota to parents Jim and Mary (Kiroff) Grekoff. In April 14, 1925 George was baptized in the Lutheran Church and on November 15, 1947 he completed his confirmation in the Lutheran Church.
George lived in Mason City almost his whole life with his wife Lydia Schultz Grekoff whom he married June 6, 1948. For most of his life, George worked for Kemps in Mason City until retirement. He always loved his work and time with Lydia at home or travelling to enjoy the US. He also loved fishing for walleyes, especially at Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota with extended family. He also served his country in the United States Air Force. George is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and numerous siblings.
