Gaye Arleen Kehm, 87, of Mason City died on Monday, December 22, 2025, and is now with her Savior. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 119 S Georgia Ave. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Burial will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to First United Methodist Church, KCMR, or Hospice of North Iowa.
Gaye was born June 28,1938 to Clifford Glines Hanson and Mildred Henrietta (Erickson) in Havre Montana. She attended school in Chester Montana and Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. Gaye married her husband Theodore (Ted) Kehm on December 12, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To this union four sons were born, Rick, Dwight, John, and Jeffrey. Gaye was involved with in the community through United Methodist Church, Cub Scouts, Little Leage baseball, and other organizations with her husband and children as they grew up in Mason City and Hampton, Iowa. Gaye attended NIACC earning a Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1972 and worked at a local nursing home in Mason City. The family moved to Hampton, Iowa in 1974 to open a Coast-to-Coast hardware store. Shortly after they opened an electrical contracting business, Kehm Electric. Gaye and Ted opened and operated several more retail businesses, new Ben Franklin-Coast to Coast, Gaye's Hallmark, and the Clothing Quarters while in Hampton for 35 years. During this time, they enjoyed frequent trips to the prairies and mountains of Montana to visit family. They also spent winters in Fort Pierce, Florida enjoying gatherings and good times with lifelong friends and family.
Preceding Gaye in death was her husband Ted Kehm in 2013. Parents Clifford Glines Hanson and Mildred Henrietta of Chester, MT, her brother Ronald (Sharlene deceased) of Havre, Montana, sister in-law Charlotte Hanson of Chester, Montana, grandson Joseph Kehm, and great granddaughter Haven Jae Beals.
Gaye is survived by her sons Rick (Tricia) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dwight (Janet) of Mason City, John (Cindy) of Forest City, and Jeffrey (Tallie) of Mason City, Gaye’s brother Clifford Hanson (Charlotte dec.) of Chester, Montana, sister Julie (David) Larson of Anoka, Minnesota. Ten grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Kehm of Gilbert, Arizona, Kelly (Jace) Kehm Beals of Groton, CT, Derek (Kendall) Reznik of Houston, TX, Christopher (Jayleen) Kehm of Mason City, Hillary Kehm, of Mason City, Alexander (Christa) Kehm of Columbia, Maryland, Gunner (Silver) Kehm of Mason City, Sawyer (Eddie) Kehm of Mason City, Spencer Kehm of Marshalltown, Iowa. Along with eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the USA.
