Eleanor J. McCoid

Eleanor J. McCoid, 95, of Mason City, IA, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or KCMR, 316 N. Federal Avenue, Mason City, IA 50401.

Eleanor was born May 12, 1922, in Clear Lake, IA, the daughter of August and Eva (Billman) Bitker. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1939, and continued her education at La James Beauty School, graduating in 1940. She married Raymond E. McCoid on October 26, 1940, in Clear Lake. The couple moved to Mason City. Eleanor worked as a beauty shop operator at Petite Beauty Salon until her retirement in 2012. Eleanor has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family & friends, cooking, baking, reading and crocheting. She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers and orchids.

Eleanor is survived by her son: James McCoid and wife Sue of Mason City; 5 grandchildren: Rebecca, Matthew, Mark and wife Lori, Jim and wife Brandy and Kathryn and husband Peter; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2008; a son: Gerald McCoid; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
