A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Plymouth City Hall, 616 Broad Street., Plymouth, Iowa. On August 12, 2025, Harlan Wayne Wyborny's faith became sight as he was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on August 11, 1940, in Plymouth, Iowa, Hal was the third of five children of Roy and Minnie Wyborny. Following his service in the United States Navy, Hal met a young woman named Donna at a baseball game in Mason City, Iowa. Just six weeks later, upon Donna's insistence, they were married. Their union has faithfully endured for the last 61 years until Hal was called to Heaven.
As a husband and father, Hal dutifully raised his children in the ways of the Lord. As a professor, he was a beloved teacher of physics and the Bible at multiple institutions of higher learning, eventually becoming the President of Miami Christian College. As a hobbyist, he was known by his neighbors in both Iowa and Florida for his two working Model T's. As a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he would want everyone reading this to know the Good News that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, and through repentance of our sins and belief in Him, we can enjoy the riches of eternal life.
Hal was preceded in death by his son Curt and is survived by his wife Donna, his children Mitch and Terri, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Hal's family kindly requests donations be made to GRIP Outreach for Youth.
