Dorothy M. Oppermann, 94, of Mason City, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the IOOF Home in Mason City. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania, with Pastor Phil Boender officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time on Monday.
Dorothy was born on February 3, 1931, in Spring Lake Township, Michigan, to Herbert and Clara DeWitt. On June 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harold Oppermann. They made their homes in many places as Harold was a pastor. They lived in Holland, MI, Monarch, Canada, Nooksack, WA, and Meservey, IA. After retirement from the ministry, they moved to Scarville, IA, where she worked as an Electronic Typesetter for Stoyles-Graphic Publishing for 15 years and finally fully retired in Mason City, IA.
She loved sewing, cooking, and having family and friends over to eat. Family was everything to her. She got such joy out of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a devoted follower of Christ. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Oppermann; son, Daniel Oppermann; her parents, Herbert and Clara DeWitt; brothers, Norman DeWitt, Herbert DeWitt; and sister, Ella McKay.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Stephen (Camie) Oppermann, Andrew (Laura) Oppermann, and Timothy Oppermann; daughter-in-law, Fu Gin Oppermann; grandchildren, Adam (Mallory) Oppermann, Rachael (Matt) Croissant, Leah (Klayton) Wilkerson, Sara (Michael) Krisanic, Matthew Oppermann, William (Melissa) Siemon, Cory (Christine) Siemon/Chang, and Elizabeth (Davie Ramos) Gin; great grandchildren, Noah and Avery Oppermann, Ava, Hadley and Adalyn Croissant, Emerson, Elsie, and Evelyn Wilkerson, Julianna and Elijah Krisanic, Aiden Chang, and Elsie Gin.
