Dorothy J. Myers

October 28, 1924 — November 27, 2021

Dorothy Jean Myers, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on November 27, 2021 at the age of 97.

Dorothy was a child of the Great Depression. Born on a farm in Pine Township, western PA, she was the daughter of Doyle and Jessie Joiner. She and her seven siblings enjoyed life on the farm with all the joys that went with it.

Married to her high school sweetheart, Wilfred Myers, they shared nearly 70 years of marriage together until his death in 2016. Dorothy and Wilfred had three children together along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Leslie (Donna) Myers; and daughters, Diane (Phil) Smith and Claudia (Bill) Rogers.
Also survived by her sister, Lucille (Ron) Kuzemchak and her brother, Lynn (Daryl) Joiner.

Dorothy developed a passion for oil painting that spanned many years. She became a talented artist with a special love of painting portraits. As a member of The Society of New Jersey Artists, she won numerous awards for her work. Dorothy was also a member of The Bay Gals of Millville, New Jersey.

In addition, Dorothy was a gardener whose perennial gardens were the envy of her neighbors. She also used her artistic talent to create unique embroidered quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.

Writing poetry was another joy for Dorothy. Many of her poems reflect life on the Joiner farm. A special reading will be done at a Celebration of Life to be held at The Joiner Farms Event Barn this coming summer. As her childhood home, the historic farm holds a special meaning to her family.
