David Innes, 68, of Mason City, died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family after a long hard battle with cancer.
Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Joseph Mirowski of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
David was born November 2, 1949 the son of John and Madonna (Lapp) Innes in Batavia, New York. He was united in marriage to Lynda Mayer Quame in Salina, KS in 2001.
David was an Environmental Safety Engineer for several companies over the years including, Golden Grain, Smithfield, Electrolux, Exide, Xerox and Stuart Oliver Holtz.
David had an eye for photography and loved to shoot pictures of lighthouses and his grandchildren. He enjoyed hanging out with and spoiling his grandchildren and also enjoyed a good round of golf. David took pleasure in helping Lynda in the garden. He spent hours working on home improvement projects to make their home just right. David was a volunteer at the USGA Tournament, served on the Election Board, the Fair Board and was the secretary of the AHEPA. David was also a member of the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
Those thankful for having shared in David’s life include his wife, Lynda, children, Steven (Gary Wolf) Innes, Janet (Bruce) Behn, Robin (Terry) Olmstead, Kim (Travis) Borneman; brother, Thomas P. (Diane) Innes; sisters, Mary A. (Gary) Wagner, Kathy “Kate” Innes; sister-in-law Mary (John) Innes; grandchildren, Cassie (Dustin), Jalen (Travis), Jessie (Logan), Trevor, Ivy, Jacob, Owen and Noah.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother John F. Innes.
