Dale Edward Tice, 78, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Dale was born on April 1, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, to George and Eunice (Anderson) Tice. He had a great smile, sparkling blue eyes, and a sharp mind. Born deaf, Dale faced challenges from an early age, but he persevered with determination and humor. At age four, he began attending Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis, Missouri, where children were taught lip reading and speech. He later transferred to Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he learned sign language, made many lifelong friends, and graduated in 1967. He loved attending school reunions whenever he could.

In 1970, Dale moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Home Interiors and Gifts for 31 years. It was there that he met his future wife, Mary Nan Parker, who was also deaf. They were married on March 24, 1979, in Wortham, Texas. Dale and Mary adored each other and complemented each other beautifully. Dale often spoke for them, while Mary helped keep him on track. They shared frequent hugs, loving glances, and a deep bond that was clear to all who knew them.

Dale and Mary were active with the Deaf Action Center in Dallas and enjoyed many local trips around Texas. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Dale especially enjoyed touring Cowboys Stadium.

Dale loved photography and travel. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada, made at least six trips to Europe, visited Morocco and Egypt, enjoyed many Disney trips and cruises, and traveled to Jamaica and Mexico. Along the way, he took thousands of photographs of family events and the places he visited.

Though Dale faced many obstacles, he persevered, lived independently with his beloved wife, and made the most of his life. He loved to joke with others, both hearing and deaf, and will be remembered for his smile, humor, determination, and love of family.

Dale is survived by his sister, Ann Tice and her husband, Joe Barkmeier; his brother, Paul Tice; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nan Tice; his parents, George and Eunice Tice; his oldest brother, Alan Tice; and his baby brother, John Tice.

Memorials may be made to Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. https://iowaschoolforthedeaf.org/donate-to-isd/
