Constance Joan (McKee) Schulz was born on January 4, 1944 to Wilbur D. and Lola Jean (Jorges) McKee in Roswell, New Mexico. The family returned to the Aredale/Dougherty area of Iowa shortly after her birth, where Coni attended the Hansell and Sheffield schools. She would later return to her education and graduate from the Worldspan Travel Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.

Coni met Howard Schulz at a high school dance. The next evening, they went on their first date. After a time, Howard proposed to Coni on June 7, 1961, on Band Festival weekend. They were married in Princeton, Missouri on August 16, 1961 and became inseparable. The pair would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this summer.

Coni and Howard were blessed with three children, and Coni remained at home to care for the kids until each had passed through junior high school. She was a loving mother and was present for all the children’s activities and sports.

Coni started working at Fay’s Restaurant in Hampton, Iowa. She then worked as a parish visitor for the United Methodist Church in Hampton from 1979 to 1990, a job she loved. Coni and Howard both returned to their educations and graduated from the Worldspan Travel Academy in Kansas City, Missouri to become travel agents. She worked at Triple A Travel and Sky International Travel in Blue Springs, Missouri before returning to Iowa to be closer to family. She then worked at Mason City Travel and Four Seasons Travel before her retirement in 2006.

Coni had a big heart for all of her family, friends, church family, and community. Her greatest joys in life were her husband, her children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, daily road adventures with Howard, and spending time with her family. She was steadfast in her faith and leaves behind a loving family, all of whom were bettered by her presence in their lives as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Coni is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard Schulz; her children, Terry (Sheila) Schulz, RaNae (Pete) Hjelle, and Scott (Ann) Schulz; grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Lexie, Cheri, Polly, Ben, Micayla, Caralyn, Justin, and Whitney; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Bobbie Hammond, Glenda (Darrell) Kelm, and Rhonda (Mick) Christensen; and many nieces and nephews.

In death, Coni is reunited with her parents, Wilbur and Lola McKee, and her daughter-in-law, Tammy Schulz.
