Cindy L. West

Cynthia Lou West died unexpectedly at home on December 8, 2025. Cindy was born on December 14, 1956, to Bill and Ruth West at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

A life-long resident of Mason City, she spent her life caring for others. Most recently, she worked at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home. She also cared for her brother Gary in her home during his final years. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whose birthdays she had memorized. She was also very fond of her cats. She was quiet and soft-spoken, letting her actions speak louder than words. Except when we called her “Cindy Lou Who”!

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Mary Becker (Prior Lake, MN) & family, Marlys and Delmar Harris (Stigler, OK) & family, Ellen Peterson (Mason City, IA) & family, and Robyn and Steve Horswell (Milford, IA).

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Denny and Gary, nephew Cory West, brothers-in-law Melvin Peterson, Ray Momeyer, and Bob Becker.
