Christy L. Angell

Christy Lynn Angell, 69, passed away Monday May 11, 2026, at the I.O.O.F in Mason City, Iowa after a 6-year battle with Parkinsons disease and dementia. A celebration of life will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Charles City May 27, 2026, from 1 – 3 pm, with Pastor Jan Tjaden speaking at 1:30 p.m. 

Christy was born January 2, 1957, in Mason City, Iowa. She grew up moving around with her family and 4 brothers and graduated from high school in Kentucky. Afterwards she moved back to Charles City, Iowa where much of her family lived.

There she started dating Kevin Angell, whom she would marry on November 23, 1979, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After settling into a beautiful home outside of Floyd, IA the two welcomed their daughter Megan in August of 1988 and son Scott in April of 1991. She loved being a mother and making birthdays and holidays extra special for her kids.

She held several jobs as the family moved around for Kevin’s jobs including a lab tech at Solvay Animal Health, a school aid in De Soto and in administration and sales at the Furniture Barn in Algona. Her favorite was working at the school.

Christy loved to read in her spare time, go shopping with her daughter and was also a great cook. She had a sweet tooth and loved diet coke. She also enjoyed canoe trips with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Chris Cordes. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Cordes; husband and best friend of 51 years, Kevin; daughter, Megan (Andrew) Tillman; son, Scott Angell; grandchildren, Aubrey and Levi Tillman; brothers, Rick (Marlene) Cordes, Jeff (Jill) Cordes, Randy Cordes and Ben Cordes.
