Britta was born October 1, 1991, to Larry and Mary Jo (Paetznick) Eckblad. When she was 8, she became the best older sibling to sister Ayanna. Because of her family and caring nurses, Britta was able to remain at home her whole life.
As an infant and child, Britta loved long car rides, fishing at Grandma and Grandpa’s cabin at Lake Koronis, being pushed in the stroller and going on adventures to places like pumpkin patches, Christmas tree farms and nature walks. She was also known as an expert secret keeper to her friends at school.
As an adult, Britta’s favorite activities were listening to music and people’s voices, spending time with her dogs, sitting outside, snuggling, kisses and goodnight prayers with Mom and movie marathons with Dad. Britta and Dad also spent hours dreaming about winning the lottery and buying a pontoon “tuna” boat that she could ride on. Her favorite programs included Elvis every Saturday morning and “Grandpa’s Attic” every Saturday evening.
She faithfully listened to church services on KCMR and 107.3 on Sunday mornings.
She also listened to stories Ayanna recorded on CDs.
Britta had a treasured collection of dolls and stuffed animals, her favorites being Mini Moo, Flying Penguin “Pengy” Guy, Chunky Monkey, Big Bug and Grr Bear.
Britta is survived by her parents, Larry and Mary Jo Eckblad; sister, Ayanna Eckblad; aunts and uncles, Karin (Russ) Rein, Mark (Jo) Paetznick, Rick (Lindy) Eckblad, Brian (Laura) Eckblad, Janeen Eckblad, Jim Morris, Daniel (Jackie) Eckblad, David (Lynnette) Eckblad, Jessica Eckblad, Deanna (Mike) Kolehmainen; and many cousins.
Britta was preceded in death by grandparents Noel and Barbara Paetznick, Janice Heikes, Leonard Eckblad; and uncles, Darrell Eckblad and Douglas Eckblad.
Britta had a sweet and gentle spirit and was loved beyond measure by her family, friends and the nurses who provided care. They rejoice knowing that she is no longer confined by physical frailty and the health problems she carried throughout her life. She will be missed very dearly.
