Bonnie Lou Ogaard, 91, of Mason City, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Heritage Care Center surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 North Pennsylvania, with Pastor Beverly Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Bonnie was born on April 14, 1934, to parents Carl and Tillie (Thompson) Ogaard west of Plymouth. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1953. After graduation, Bonnie worked for 25 years at Kresge Dollar Store before moving into Nutrition Service at Mercy Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 2004.
Bonnie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of a 500-card club and a doll club. Bonnie was known for having a sweet tooth and loved to pair a sweet with a cup of coffee. In her free time, Bonnie loved taking trips to Diamond Jo Casino with her friends and family, where she could be found playing penny slots.
To her family and friends, Bonnie was known to be very loving and hardworking; she valued a strong work ethic. In her later years, she was very appreciative of the help extended to her by family, friends, and most recently the staff at Heritage Care Center and St. Croix Hospice. Bonnie will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
Bonnie is survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Lynn Ogaard, and a few cousins, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Tillie Ogaard; sisters, Lenore (Kenny) Kollman, Clarine (Mike) Timm, Iola (Leo) Wood, Delores (Mike) Moorehead, and Norma (Dean) Miller; brothers, Gilbert Ogaard, and Gordon Ogaard.
