Beverly was born June 6, 1933, in Forest City, Iowa, to James and Grace (Anderson) Brighton. She grew up on the family farm in Winnebago County, experiences that shaped who she was—hardworking, faithful, and devoted to those she loved. She attended country school in Ellington Township, Hancock County, and later Forest City High School as part of the Class of 1950, where she made lifelong friendships.
On November 13, 1952, she married the love of her life, Raymond James Nedved. Together they shared nearly 65 years of marriage, raising four children and building a home where faith and family were always at the center. Beverly’s faith was steady and strong. She was a woman of prayer, leaning on God in every season of life. She and Ray enjoyed traveling, but their happiest summers were spent “Up North” at Lake Vermilion, Minnesota. There, they fished, laughed, and created countless memories with their children and a lively gaggle of grandchildren. Home was Beverly’s heart. She was a gifted homemaker who found joy in tending her flower gardens, creating hand-stitched treasures, and filling her kitchen with the aroma of fresh pies and preserves. Her lemon meringue, raisin cream, and apple pies were family legends, and many jars of her canned goods mysteriously disappeared—often “borrowed” by grandchildren who couldn’t resist. Her Hardanger and cross-stitch pieces, lovingly crafted, will remain keepsakes of her steady hands and creative spirit. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Daniel Nedved of Mason City; Cheryl (Roberto) Mejia of Opelika, AL; Denise (James) Surat of Colorado Springs, CO; and Stacey (Doug) Wood of Mason City. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren—Eric Mejia, Jon (Ivory) Mejia, Matthew (Tori) Mejia, Heather (Scott) Hermanson, Christine (Rich) Collins, Joseph (Alexandra) Goodnow, Andy (Becky) Surat, Erin (Adam) Street, Parker Wood, and Mackenzie Wood—and 16 great-grandchildren: Caiden, Mason, Camdyn, Gavin, Lauren, Teddy, Keegan, Dylan, Kellen, Caleb, Lenna, Lyana, Colby, Toby, Mina, and Blythe. She was welcomed into eternal life by her beloved husband, Ray; her parents; 13 siblings; and a host of relatives and dear friends who preceded her in death.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Gayle Anderson, Georgia Holm, Jay and Sandy Thede, A Helping Hand, the compassionate staff at Good Shepherd, and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care and support.

Beverly will be remembered for her faith, her devotion to family, her welcoming home, and the joy she shared with all who sat at her table.
