Betty Lou Hanson

Betty L. Hanson, 88, of Mason City, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the IOOF Home. A celebration of life will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. Inurnment will be held in the Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family of Betty Hanson.

Betty Lou Hanson was born on July 29, 1934, in Springfield, MO to parents Floyd and Flossie (Pethick) Hodenfield. At the age of 6 Betty moved to Mason City. She attended Mason City High School. Later in life she began working at Winnebago and did so for 26 years.

Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Together her and life partner Lloyd enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to different casinos and car shows.

Betty is survived by her son Duane (Susan Krause) Hanson; grandchildren, Chris Avis, Mark Hanson, Amy (Adam) Keith, Samantha Hanson; great grandchildren, Kylie, Elizabeth, Haylee, Andrew, Kamden; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her life partner Lloyd Lunning; parents; brother, Earl and sister-in-law Lou.
