Arlene M. Dietz, 92, of Mason City, died Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Praise Community Church, 11 2nd Street NW, with Pastor Jeff Dahlin officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the family of Arlene Dietz.

Arlene Martha (Schulz) Dietz was born on June 25, 1931, to parents Robert and Hattie (Voelker) Schulz in rural New Hampton, Iowa. She attended country school in the one room schoolhouse in Chickasaw County. Arlene was united in marriage to Leo Albrecht and the couple had two sons: Allen and Kerry. The couple later divorced, and Arlene wed Jack Dietz. The couple were blessed with two children: Denise and Darin. On September 4, 1981, Arlene married Wilbert A. Dietz (no relation to Jack Dietz) and they were married until Willie’s passing in 2010.

Throughout her life, Arlene was a homemaker for many years, tending to her family and raising her children. After her children had grown, she worked a variety of jobs; she was a manager for Schulz, Inc., a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken, and housecleaning. She was known for her dependability and her strong work ethic. Arlene retired in 1986.

Arlene was known for being an excellent baker, and that was something that she thoroughly enjoyed doing. She liked to bake a variety of recipes, but her homemade bread was the best. She loved to share it with her family and friends. She also liked to quilt, and she was an excellent seamstress. Arlene faithfully attended church and loved Jesus.  Arlene was very loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her children, Allen (Pat) Albrecht, Kerry (Jenny) Albrecht, Denise Dietz, and Darin Dietz; step children, Neal (Cathy) Dietz, and Doug Dietz; grandchildren, Jane (Ryan) Alkire, Mike (Camille) Albrecht, Megan Albrecht, Ethan (Angie) Albrecht, Marcus Albrecht, William (Addie) Albrecht, and Nicole (Alex) Stockton; step grandchildren, Ben and Wade Dietz; and great grandchildren, Olive, Ian, Leah, Dominic, Victoria, Saylor, and Collins.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; parents, Robert and Hattie Schultz; siblings, Albert, Erv, Otto, Walt, Paul, Violet, Viola, and Ruth (Tuti); and step daughter-in-law, Deb Dietz.
