Alex Jordon Gemaehlich

January 19, 1987 — November 29, 2017

Alex Jordon Gemaehlich, 30, of Mankato, MN, and formerly of Mason City, IA, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 1st Street N.E., with Pastor Chuck Kelsey officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Inurnment will take place in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alex Gemaehlich memorial fund in care of the family.

Alex was born January 19, 1987, in Mason City, the son of Denny Gemaehlich and Kimberly (Beekman) Erbe. He played basketball, baseball, and track & field as well as being a member of the speech team. Alex graduated from Mason City High School in 2005. Alex continued his education at the University of Iowa, earning his BA degree and Entrepreneurial Management Certificate. He worked for Estes Trucking as an Account Sales Associate. Alex enjoyed spending time with his friends and family – especially his nephew, Kellan. He also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye basketball & football, nightlife, bowling, and making people laugh. He was a people pleaser with a great sense of humor- a true joy to be around. Alex was a member of the University of Iowa Alumni.

Alex is survived by his mother: Kim Erbe and husband Doug of Mason City; his father: Denny Gemaehlich of Mason City; 2 siblings: Brother, Matthew Gemaehlich and girlfriend Mindy Emerson, nephew Kellan Gemaehlich of Plover, WI; Sister, Kelsey Gemaehlich and fiancé Chris Clendenen of Seattle, WA; grandparents: Lorraine Beekman of Charles City, IA and Bonnie and Al Gemaehlich of Mason City; girlfriend: Sarah Damerow of Minneapolis, MN; aunts and uncles: Debi Bean and husband Brian, Scott Beekman and wife Ali, Kathy Brown and husband Don, and Joleen Snyder and husband Dan. He is also survived by numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Carlisle Beekman.
