Wayne J. Chamberlin, 95, of Mason City, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM, followed by a Masonic Service, on Friday (October 28, 2011) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street Southeast, Mason City, IA 50401. Wayne was born on April 23, 1916, in Mason City, IA, the son of William P. and Joyce (Malson) Chamberlin. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1935 and attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Petty Officer First Class. On October 2, 1937, Wayne married Edith L. Skoglund in Des Moines. For 30 years, Wayne worked as an Independent Insurance Agent for both DOPPS and BUSCH Agencies. Over the years, he also worked at A.M.P.I, NIACC, and Cerro Gordo County. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, and a former member of the VFW. Wayne enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing cards, and in earlier years being an avid fisherman. Wayne is survived by two sons: Dennis Chamberlin and wife Linda of Maricopa, AZ and Jerry Chamberlin and wife Ann of Chandler, AZ; his dear friend and companion: Leola Snell of Mason City and extended family; grandchildren: Mark Lee, Mona Lee, Jon Chamberlin, Jeremy Chamberlin and wife Lori, Eric Chamberlin, & Janine Chamberlin and husband Joe; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and one brother: William Chamberlin of Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edith in 2001, brother: Donald Chamberlin, and sister: Betty Kunz.
