Wayne H. Vandenbosch

Wayne (Butch) H. VanDenBosch passed away on June 1, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. In accordance to his wishes, his body was cremated and there will be no formal memorial service. Butch was born July 30, 1926 in Sheridan, Iowa to Henry and Jeannette (Grooters) VanDenBosch of Boyden. He attended his formative school years in the family hometown of Boyden, Iowa until moving to Fertile, Iowa where he graduated from Fertile High School. At the age of 17, Butch enlisted in the United State Navy and served in World War II. Upon his return from war, Butch married Jean Ouverson and to this union was born four sons. The family operated Fertile Valley Hatchery and Feed Mill in Fertile, Iowa for many years. Butch later took a position with Winnebago Industries as a truck driver and eventually moved into a sales management position. He later moved to Lake Mills, Iowa and continued his career with Winnebago Industries. After retiring, Butch delivered motorhomes throughout the country including many trips to Alaska where he eventually established a second home. Butch continued to live in his Lake Mills residence until his recent illness. He enjoyed his close friends, took pride in his children, grandchildren and his Dutch heritage. He was especially proud to be one of the World War II veterans that took an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2009. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Don 'Skinny' VanDenBosch; daughter-in-law, Kelly VanDenBosch; grandson, Benjy VanDenBosch, and his ex-wife, Jean. Survivors include his four sons, Bob (Toby) VanDenBosch of Mason City, Iowa; Tom VanDenBosch and Scott (Annette) VanDenBosch both of Pine, Arizona; Michael (Karen) VanDenBosch of Iowa City, Iowa; and step-son Bruce Troe of Sylmar, California; sister, Linda (John) Backhaus of Woodbury, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Norma Lou VanDenBosch of Story City, Iowa; grandchildren: Lindsay (Jeff) Horner of West Des Moines, Iowa; Sasha VanDenBosch of Chicago, Illinois; Noel, Leah and Lucas VanDenBosch of Iowa City, Iowa; Mark Valentine and Alicia, Vanessa and Hillary VanDenBosch all of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as a niece, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
