Wava M. Pippert

February 22, 1927 — November 3, 2019

Wava Mae Pippert, 92, formerly of Prairie Village, Kansas, died on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Quaker Hill Nursing Home in Baxter Springs, KS.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 11, 2019, at the Nora Springs United Methodist Church, 202 N Hawkeye Avenue.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the start of the service on Monday.

Interment will be held in Park Cemetery in Nora Springs, Iowa.

Memorials may be made out to the Harry Hines Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market Street, Wichita, KS 67202.

Wava Mae Pippert was born on February 22, 1927, in Chapin, Iowa, to parents Jack and Bertha Withers. Wava attended Chapin High School and La James College of Cosmetology in Mason City. She became a hairstylist and opened her own salon, Lovely Lady, in Mission, Kansas. On January 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Paul Pippert in Mason City.

Wava was active in Eastern Star at Old Mission Lodge in Prairie Village. She was the first woman to receive the prestigious National Farm Broadcasters Association Award for Meritorious Service for her years of organizing and leading women’s luncheons and events during the NAFB November conventions in Kansas City.

Wava loved to travel. She had the opportunity to see a great deal of the world—from all over the United States to trips to Europe. A People-to-People-tour led by Paul took them both to the former Soviet Union.

Wava is survived by her daughter, Paulette (Greg) Cott of Afton, Oklahoma; grandsons, Steve (Kristi) Cott of Garden City, Kansas; Jeff (Ashley) Cott of Olathe, Kansas; great grandsons Jackson and William Cott, and great granddaughter Poppy Cott.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul.
