Violet D. Church, 87, of 324 2nd St. NE, died Saturday (June 26, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Finger officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be given to the Violet D. Church Memorial Fund. Violet was born May 4, 1917 in Hardy Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter of Selmer and Clara (Steen) Hage. As a young girl her family moved from Canada to Minnesota then to Iowa. Violet attended Mason City High School. She married Nathan Church June 1, 1935 living in Mason City till 1943. That same year they moved to California where she worked at Consolidated Steel Shipyards in San Pedro. Following Nathan?s discharge from the service, they moved back to Mason City in 1947. Violet worked part time at Cerro Gordo Hatchery and a number of years with Avon. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, WELCA, church circle and a willing volunteer. Violet operated the ceramic program at Good Shepherd Health Center for over 22 years giving countless hours. She enjoyed baking, home and her family was her greatest joy. Violet is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gaiser and husband Harold of Mason City; grandchildren, Michael Gaiser and fiancé Penny Trytten of Mason City, Steven Gaiser and wife Staci of Mason City, Katherine Kehm of Scottsdale, AZ; great grandchildren, Joshua and Kelly Kehm of Scottsdale, AZ, Christina, Katie and Kara Gaiser of Mason City, Trevor and Taylor Gaiser of Mason City; sisters, Doreen Hedenblad of Billings, MT, Joyce Hendricks and husband Elwyn of Citrus Springs, FL; brother, Warren Hage and wife Mae of Bradenton, FL. Violet?s parents, husband, Nathan in 1986, 2 brothers, Stanley and Orvil Hage, 2 sisters, Myrtle Humphrey and Carol Hawkins preceded her in death.
