April 25, 1947 — November 10, 2014

Vernon L. Findling, 67, of Mason City, IA, died Monday, November 10, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Chaplain Janet Dorenkamp of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Plymouth, IA. Memorials may be directed to the Vernon Findling memorial fund in care of the family. Vernon was born April 25, 1947, in Mason City, the son of Lonnie V. and Mavis (Linrooth) Findling. He graduated from Mason City High School. Vernon enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, and proudly served his country during Vietnam, until his honorable discharge in 1969. Vernon worked as a Parts Man at David’s Manufacturing for 10 years. He enjoyed taking care of his cat, fishing and the outdoors. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Vernon is survived by his siblings: Ginger Hinrichs of Iowa City, IA, Tony Findling of South Dakota, Lynn Jones and husband Robert of Iowa City, and Allan Findling of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 sister: Tammy Diekhuis.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Plymouth, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Vernon Findling memorial fund in care of the family.

Visitation:
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
