Velma M. Beverly, 90, of Mason City, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kent Mechler, Chaplain – Good Shepherd Health Center, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Tuesday (February 5, 2013) at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Velma Beverly memorial fund in care of the family. Velma was born May 20, 1922, in Hampton, IA, the daughter of Claude and Nellie (Bray) Jackson. She graduated from Hampton High School. After graduation Velma worked as a Telephone Operator for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in Hampton and San Francisco, CA. Velma married U.S. Grant Beverly on April 5, 1946, in San Jose, CA. The couple moved to North Iowa in 1952. Velma was a homemaker and later in life worked at Charlie Brown Day Care in Mason City. Velma enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and listening to music – especially opera and country. She was a member of the First Christian Church - where she was an active volunteer, UCT (United Commercial Travel), and the Ladies Auxiliary (VFW) in Mason City. Velma is survived by 2 sons: Thomas R. Beverly and wife Karen of Easton, PA, Paul G. Beverly and wife Diane of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren: Justin Beverly, Elizabeth Beverly and husband Mike Grant, Andrew Beverly, David Beverly, Melissa Brannen and husband Jason, and Brian Beverly; 2 great grandchildren: Maya and Nolan Brannen; and 1 sister: Isabel Hobson of Edina, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2003; and 1 brother: Dallas Jackson.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery

Memorials may be directed to the Velma Beverly memorial fund in care of the family.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Tuesday (February 5, 2013) at Major Erickson Funeral Home
